The Mikulas Musicians Fund is organized to provide emergency financial relief to Metropolitan Tucson Musicians who suffer health problems that interfere with their ability to play music. It is intended to provide short-term relief on short notice to those in need.
The fund was started with money that was raised for Roger Mikulas, a Tucson musician who suffered a severe head injury while volunteering at the Tucson Folk Festival. Since Roger had health insurance that covered almost all his hospital costs, he decided to use the money to start a fund for other musicians who either do not have health insurance or who do not have funds to survive a health crises during their musical career.
The MMF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) status, which enables current and future donations to be tax-deductible.
